SMSC and British Values
Nurturing values, character, and social skills in every learner
SMSC at Dawn House School:
We are committed to nurturing the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) development of every student. Our curriculum is designed to foster a strong sense of personal growth and responsibility, while promoting positive relationships and understanding of the wider world. We support our pupils with speech and language challenges in developing key skills, including communication, empathy, and respect for diversity, both in and outside of the classroom. By integrating SMSC principles into daily learning experiences, we aim to equip our students with the tools they need to thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment, preparing them for success in all aspects of life.
Assemblies at Dawn House School:
Our assemblies play an important role in bringing the school community together, promoting shared values, and providing opportunities for reflection. Each assembly is carefully designed to be inclusive, engaging, and supportive of our pupils’ diverse needs, including those with speech and language challenges. We cover a wide range of topics, from celebrating achievements to exploring British Values, SMSC development, and key themes such as kindness, respect, and teamwork. Assemblies are an important part of fostering a sense of belonging, providing pupils with a space to connect, reflect, and learn how to contribute positively to our school and wider community. Through these gatherings, we strive to inspire our students, encourage their personal growth, and reinforce the values that help them thrive.
