Safeguarding
The safety of the pupils and the families we work with are a priority to us all at Dawn House School
Safeguarding at Dawn House School:
Philip Chandler – Safeguarding Lead
Jenny McConnell – DSL
Kathy Horton – DSL
Niamh Ankers – DSL
Safeguarding Responsibility:
All staff recognise their responsibility in taking action where a child is suffering significant harm or is likely to do so. The school also has responsibility to take action to promote the welfare of the child in need of additional support even if they are not suffering harm or at immediate risk.
Due to the vulnerable nature of our children and their complex needs, it is not uncommon for a member of the safeguarding team to follow up a potential concern with parents – often to simply clarify what a child may have communicated to someone. This is their legal responsibility and we appreciate your understanding that your child’s wellbeing is of the utmost importance to us.
What to do if you have a safeguarding concern?
If you have any concerns at all, please contact a DDSL or DSL as soon as possible on 01623 795361, or email Philip Chandler: [email protected]
Should your concern be in respect to a member of school staff then contact the Principal Jenny McConnell immediately on 01623 795361.
However, if you have a concern about the Principal, please contact Neil Maslen, the Director of Education at Speech and Language UK: [email protected].
