Our vision: Working towards successful futures

What a colourful and vibrant week it’s been at Dawn House School this week!

The whole school highlight has to be World Book Day. We had a school full of Minions, Harry Potters, various witches and wizards and even pop starts who have written autobiographies! We had speech and language UK induction visitors in school too and they all thoroughly enjoyed joining in with the activities- they were just disappointed not to hear all the answers to the quiz!

Chimes had Karaoke and an escape room as part of their activities; Forest Schools were monster finding; we had cakes, cocktails and music!

Thank you to you for supporting your children to join in if they wanted to, to staff (who clearly enjoyed every minute!) and to Ms Drewnik and Ms Chadwick specifically for the planning of the day. I’m sure we all went home smiling yesterday.

Lower school also had a trip out this week to Lego Discovery in Birmingham.

Through the link you can experience the day they had and we had some lovely feedback from the public about how well behaved the group were and how amazing the staff were with the children! Can’t fault that!

Coming home this week…

Easter raffle tickets! Please sell out to friends and family- there are some lovely Easter prizes to be had. This will be drawn just before the holiday.

This term we will also be running the children’s Mothers Day stall with small, but surprise, gifts for all of their Mums, Grannies, Aunties. More information to come but this is going to be on Friday 28th March.

Help families like yours this Free Wills Month

A gift in your Will can keep the charities and school’s mission alive.

Our schools are an important part of the work we do to support children and families. They are places of learning, of becoming for our children, and a community of belonging. As families, you know this better than most.

A gift in your Will could ensure that the mission of helping children find their voice continues.

We were fortunate to receive such a legacy a few years ago which we saved until the right opportunity came along, our sensory bus! What a legacy!

This March, Speech and Language UK is partnering with Octopus Legacies to offer everyone involved with the charity the opportunity to write (or update) a Will for free. There is no cost nor obligation.

Free Wills Month runs throughout March, but don’t leave it till it’s too late. Do something wonderful for children and families like yours, today.

Additional extras at Dawn House School…

You may know that as well as drama therapy which we talked about last week, we also have art therapy at Dawn House School.

Art Therapy is a type of psychotherapy, with the added benefit of art and play materials available to support communication. Art Therapists are state registered health professionals.

Young people attending art therapy are offered boundaried and confidential time to explore their thoughts and feelings through art, play, metaphor, story and other creative processes. Creativity is a powerful tool to open up feelings and to safely explore them without the need to rely on words, although verbal interactions are an important aspect of therapy where available.

The week ahead…

On Monday we celebrate International Womens Day in assembly.

*Strength, Resilience and Grace- Celebrating Women and Girls Everywhere!*

Have a great weekend everyone,

Jenny.
