Engage Develop Aspire Communicate
Our vision: Working towards successful futures
Half term! Spring!
Our celebration assembly this week was just as celebratory as ever! Swimming certificates, Makaton certificates, Tutor awards for ‘Develop, Aspire, Communicate, Engage’ and House certificates for all the Tigers out there who won the last ‘arts’ house event.
Talking of Houses- we asked the Pupil Leadership Group what they thought about the need to add in some new houses to accommodate our growing school. They thought this was a great idea and came up with some great names for the new houses! We will be looking at this ready for the next house event in March next half term. This coincides with Red Nose Day- children and staff can wear red, and red noses if they choose to do so, but we will remind everyone nearer the time.

Have a look at the link above to see how our Careers event went last Friday. So well attended by parents and students and a great variety of providers with relevant information and lots of freebies!
Online Safety:
At holiday time we know that children really miss their friends in school. We really hope that you can support us to ensure that communications your children have with each other outside of school hours is safe and kind. Please consider how much time your children spend on their phones and keep close supervision of them.
Children can’t always manage face to face communication and friendships, so on-line communication can often go really wrong for them. I’m sure you appreciate the impact this can have in school, when things go wrong with contact with each other from home.
If there are any issues over the holiday, parents of any children involved will be requested to come into school to help us work together to resolve anything that is ongoing.
Here’s a good glossary of up-to-date online language which I think all parents/carers would find helpful:

Next half term highlights
This year’s World Book Day celebrations are taking place on Thursday 6th March, and we are thrilled to share that the theme is ‘Heroes and Villains’! We have dedicated the whole morning with lots of exciting activities for our pupils and can’t wait to see so many of them roaming the corridors dressed up and sharing amazing things about their favourite characters!
There will also be cakes and drinks stall at break time so please send your child in with some change. The Finale of the day will be a whole school Quiz and a Best Dressed competition for staff and students.
As always, dressing up is optional and students can bring a prop, alongside a book for ‘Show & tell’.
If you’d like to share some pictures of how you join in the celebrations at home with your children, please let us know and we’d be happy to showcase your fantastic engagement and ideas on our website and Facebook page.
6th form are also going on the second trip of the year to Robin Hoods Bay– great fun to be had by all I’m sure.
Bags to school collection is the Tuesday 25th February- have a good clear out and send in your old clothes etc- save yourself a trip to the charity shop and raise us some money!
A reminder too that Monday 24th February is an INSET day for pre 16 pupils, and children return on Tuesday 25th! Enjoy your extra day!
6th formers will enjoy their first conference experience at our Pupil Participation Conference- looking forward to sharing more about this after the event.
Enjoy your break!
