Mansfield: Then and Now – A Journey Through Time
Exploring the past, capturing the present, understanding our future.

Our KS4 LC students have been taking a fascinating journey through time by exploring how Mansfield has changed over the years. As part of the project, pupils have been capturing photographs of Mansfield today and comparing them to historical images to see how the town has evolved.
To deepen our understanding, they visited Mansfield Museum and Mansfield Library, where they had the opportunity to use a microscanner to examine newspapers from 1845 to 1901. These historical documents gave them a unique insight into the lives, events, and developments that shaped the town over a century ago.
This project has encouraged students to develop their observational and analytical skills while fostering a greater appreciation for local history. Seeing how buildings, streets, and even industries have changed over time has sparked great discussions and curiosity about the future of Mansfield.
