Exploring Mansfield’s History at Local Church

This morning, our KS4 LC class took a fascinating trip to a local church as part of their ASDAN qualification, focusing on local history. The visit provided an opportunity to explore Mansfield’s rich past through the historical significance of the church and its surroundings.

Pupils examined gravestones, uncovering stories of the people who shaped the area. Many of the names and dates they discovered offered insight into Mansfield’s mining heritage, with numerous graves belonging to colliery workers. This firsthand experience brought history to life, helping students connect their learning to the real world.

The trip was a valuable part of their studies, deepening their understanding of how Mansfield’s past influences the present.
