“The Golden Thread” Programme
Sixth Form Pupils Bake Their Way to Community Impact

A group of sixth form students from Dawn House School are making a difference in their local community by participating in The Golden Thread—a 4-6 week programme designed to mentor young people through projects that support their local area. This unique opportunity not only helps students give back but also allows them to develop essential teamwork and career skills.
As part of the programme, the students have come up with an initiative to host a bake sale, with proceeds going to a local dog rescue centre. This thoughtful and creative idea was entirely student-led, and they are now busy planning every aspect of the sale, from recipes and baking schedules to promotional materials and logistics for the event.
The bake sale is just one part of the larger Golden Thread experience, which encourages participants to get out into the community, try something new, and make a meaningful contribution. Throughout the programme, students are mentored to not only develop their project but also to reflect on their personal growth, gaining invaluable skills such as communication, organisation, and problem-solving.
The bake sale is scheduled to take place in February, and the students are hoping to raise a significant amount to help provide care and resources for rescue dogs in the area.
Stay tuned for updates on the bake sale, and let’s support these incredible students as they bake their way to a brighter future for both themselves and their community.
