Dawn House School: Pupil Leadership Group – Autumn 2
Pupil Feedback Drives Positive Change in School Life
Pupil Leadership Group:
At Dawn House School, we value our pupils’ opinions and use their feedback to help make our school better. Recently, our students shared what’s working well and where we can improve. Here’s a look at some of the key points from their feedback and the actions we’re taking to enhance their experience.
What’s Going Well
Our pupils have enjoyed many aspects of school life this year. Key Stage 3 students have especially enjoyed PE, swimming, and life skills lessons. Primary and Key Stage 4 pupils have loved activities like the sensory bus, football, enrichment days, and trips, including visits to Robin Hoods Bay. Sixth Form pupils are happy with their learning environment and the wide range of activities available to them.
Areas for Improvement
While there’s a lot to celebrate, pupils have also shared some suggestions for improvement. The condition of the school minibus and communication within the Sixth Form were mentioned as areas that need attention. Pupils also asked for more trips and residential activities, and we’re working on making that happen. Additionally, we plan to improve some classrooms to reduce distractions and make learning even better.
Safety and Wellbeing
Pupils feel safe at school and know who to talk to if they have concerns. We’re taking action to improve safety in areas like the swimming changing rooms and crowded corridors, especially during class transitions.
Lunchtime Clubs and Activities
Pupils are enjoying our lunchtime clubs, which help reduce incidents and give them something fun to do. However, they’ve asked for more variety, particularly for younger students. Suggested clubs include football, karate, boxing, and gymnastics, and we’re working to add more options. We’re also improving communication about what’s available in these clubs.
Thank you to our pupils for their helpful feedback, and stay tuned for more updates!
