Principal’s message to families – 15th November 2024
Our anti-bullying week assembly started the week, getting us to think about ways that we can make sure people feel included and valued and how we can be good friends by listening and being kind. Children and staff talked about this in groups and had some amazing ideas.
On Tuesday we had the Snow White theatre performance- it certainly was larger than life and a lovely whole school event which most students enjoyed.
We were proud to show off our school and our 2 new classrooms (you’ll be invited to see them too on Parents Day/Christmas Fayre on the 30th Nov) to visitors from Nottinghamshire Local Authority who came for their termly review meeting with us, in person.
6th form have had a sunny few days in Robin Hoods Bay this week. It certainly looked like a lot of fun!
And now for the unmentionable…. CHRISTMAS! Still weeks to go I know but I am appealing for some donations for the Christmas Fayre, which I do think will be our best yet!
Our requests for donations are as follows:
  • Bottles
  • Plants
  • Terracotta pots (for bulbs)
  • Tombola and gift stall items
  • Raffle prizes
  • Silent auction prizes
  • Accessories for our DHS version of Vinted- our ‘Dinted’ stall!
  • Cakes (on the day)
We will have all the stalls for everyone to wander during the day (please invite friends and family) music in the hall; turkey cobs and refreshments in the dining room (don’t forget to pre-order the cobs through Weduc) and tours of school to show off our new classrooms, the gym and our residential areas. The Fayre will be open between 10am-3.30pm.
Parent meetings with staff are going to be between 9.30 and 2.40 and will be held in classrooms and other areas around school. You will receive your programme and name sticker as you arrive and will be asked if you would like to put your name down for a tour.
I do need to reiterate that you will need to be responsible for your children on the day, as staff are in school on other duties.
I also remind you that school is closed to children on Monday 2nd December.
If you look on our website (new and developing!) you will also see that we have opened the 2026 ski-trip up for parents to show their interest- deposit payments can now be made. Remember there is a maximum number and this will be on a first come, first served basis.
I’ll finish today with BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Kathy Horton who has successfully completed her Senior Mental Health Lead training. Well done Mrs Horton!
Have a lovely weekend,
Jenny
