Principal’s message to families – 8 November 2024
This week was Occupational Therapy week! Celebrating everything OT! We started the week with some training for all our staff about all things OT and Speech and language during their INSET day.
Occupational Therapy (OT) helps people of all ages achieve greater independence, improved functioning, and well-being in their daily lives. It is particularly impactful for individuals facing physical, developmental, sensory, or cognitive challenges, as it focuses on enabling them to participate in meaningful activities, or “occupations,” that matter most to them—whether it’s getting dressed, going to school, working, or simply enjoying leisure activities.
OT creates positive impacts on:
  • Promoting Independence
  • Addressing Physical and Developmental Challenges
  • Supporting Sensory Processing Needs
  • Improving Mental Health and Coping Strategies
  • Enabling Participation in Work and School
  • Holistic Approaches to achieving wellbeing
  • OT can empower individuals and their families or carers
Occupational therapy has the power not only to enhance an individual’s abilities but also to support families. By equipping individuals with skills for greater independence, OT reduces the burden on caregivers and enhances family dynamics. For children and adults alike, OT can transform what may seem like small steps—holding a spoon, buttoning a shirt, or writing clearly—into powerful achievements that restore dignity, confidence, and connection.
OT focuses on enhancing quality of life, providing people with the skills and adaptations they need to fully participate in their communities and lead fulfilling, empowered lives.
